AGRICULTURE - undergraduate (study in English)

The undergraduate programme lasts 3.5 years (7 semesters).

  

The syllabus is based on essential and general subjects, such as: botany, chemistry, plant physiology or economics; and thematic areas (modules) addressing a variety of issues, including technical considerations, the basics of agriculture, agricultural production, horticultural production, livestock production, and a module in agricultural economics. Each module consists of lectures, seminars and lab classes. About one-third of all courses is optional. The programme also provides an opportunity to learn the Polish language and learn about Polish culture. Classes and lectures start on two dates: October 1st and February 15th. The deadline for submission of documents is September 24th or February 8th. The minimum number of candidates to start the programme is 10 persons. Small groups will ensure individual working relations between students and teachers. Students' progress is evaluated on the basis of their active participation in and contribution to the programme. After completion of this Bachelor programme, the graduate will be awarded the professional title of Engineer with a note that the programme was taught in English. The graduates may pursue their studies by going on to complete a postgraduate (second-cycle) programme in Agriculture or Environmental Protection and a PhD programme.

AGRICULTURE - postgraduate (study in English)

Postgraduate studies for graduates with a degree in Engineering or a Bachelor's degree in a subject related to agriculture or the environmental sciences last 2 years (3 semesters).

Agriculture is a leading sector of global economy which offers real opportunities for interesting and well-paid work. The programme of studies in Agriculture provides comprehensive preparation for working in the sector. The proposed specializations correspond to the needs of the market. Students acquire knowledge in the economics of farming businesses, the use of applied biology for agricultural development and conducting activity in the agrotourism sector. Postgraduates can find work in companies which are active in agriculture and related sectors, in national and local government bodies and in scientific institutions, administration or education. Thanks to the streamlined course of studies, graduates will also find themselves well-prepared to start and run their own farm in rural areas. Students’ progress is evaluated on the basis of their active participation in and contribution to the programme. The programme concludes with a Master Thesis leading to a Master’s degree in Agronomy with a note that the programme was taught in English.

ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION (study in English)

Studies in Environmental Protection are offered as a two-year programme (3 semesters).

The programme is comprised of thematic areas (modules) addressing a variety of issues, including the impact of agricultural activity on the environment, organic systems of farming and food production, multifunctional rural development and economic aspects of these processes. Each module consists of lectures, seminars and laboratory classes. About one-third of all courses is optional. We welcome graduates from first-degree programmes such as holders of Bachelor’s (BA or BSc.) degrees in: Protection of the Natural Environment, Horticulture, Economics, Biology, Food Technology or other fields of Agriculture. All candidates should present a language certificate from a recognized language school or will be requested to take an examination in English at the University of Agriculture. Admission numbers to Environmental Protection Programme are limited to 15 persons to ensure an individual working relationship between students and teachers. Students’ progress is evaluated on the basis of their active participation in and contribution to the programme. The programme concludes with a Master Thesis leading to a Master’s degree in Environmental Protection with a note that the programme was taught in English.

THE INTERNATIONAL MASTER’S

DOUBLE DEGREE IN BUSINESS ECONOMICS (study in English)

Graduates of the International Master’s Double-Degree Programme in Business Economics are able to analyze complex economic relations in business processes, and propose and implement managerial decisions related to the functioning of those processes. They demonstrate a high degree of self-sufficiency and creativity in managerial decision-making. They command a deep knowledge not only of operational business management, but also when it comes to taking strategic decisions in view of globalization and the economy as a whole. The International Master’s Double-Degree Programme in Business Economics is designed with the purpose of enabling graduates to competently exercise managerial functions at the top management level of business, with a special focus on working in primary agricultural production and the food industry either as a general manager or specialist manager. Thanks to the international component of the study programme, graduates will gain knowledge and skills, as well as practical experience of working in the business environment of Visegrad/Central European region, with various thematic study trips to partner institutions and panel discussions with experts and experienced managers organized as an integral part of the programme (in partnership with business, universities and European institutions) in Slovakia, Hungary, Austria, Poland and the Czech Republic. In addition, graduates will be able to gain an improved understanding of the practical issues of agribusiness, economics, consumer and environmental affairs from a European perspective by taking part in various European Exchange Programs and summer schools offered in cooperation with European partners. Last but not least, the International Master’s Double-Degree Programme in Business Economics also helps to build a social network of students and graduates to maintain and encourage international ties in the future.
